Swiggy Integrates In-App UPI Service for Seamless Food Ordering Payments
Swiggy, the popular Indian food and grocery delivery platform, is offering a more convenient way to pay for your orders. The company has introduced its own in-app Unified Payments Interface (UPI) service, allowing users to ditch the app-switching hassle during checkout.
Simplifying Payments with UPI Integration
Similar to services like Google Pay and PhonePe, Swiggy's UPI integration streamlines the payment process. Users can now complete transactions directly within the Swiggy app, eliminating the need to switch to another app for payment authorization. This reduces the risk of payment failures that can occur during app redirects.

Phased Rollout for a Smooth Transition
Swiggy has been piloting the new UPI feature with its employees over the past month. To ensure a smooth user experience, the company plans to gradually roll out the service to all users over the next few months. This phased approach allows Swiggy to identify and address any potential issues before wider implementation.
Partnerships Power Swiggy's UPI Play
Unlike Zomato, which acquired a third-party application provider (TPAP) license, Swiggy has opted for a partnership-based approach. The company has collaborated with Yes Bank and Juspay to leverage the UPI-Plugin, enabling in-app UPI payments. This strategic move allows Swiggy to offer a seamless payment experience without relying on external UPI apps.
Enhanced User Experience Takes Center Stage
The core benefit of Swiggy's UPI integration lies in user convenience. By eliminating the need to switch apps for payment, Swiggy aims to create a more streamlined checkout process. This integrated approach is expected to improve user satisfaction and loyalty.
