'Talk to Spotify' AI Feature Explained: How It Works, What It Offers, Supported Countries, and More
Spotify has officially introduced Talk to Spotify, a new conversational AI assistant designed to make discovering music, podcasts, and audiobooks more natural. The mobile-only feature allows Premium subscribers to have real-time conversations with Spotify, helping them find new content, control playback, and learn more about their favorite artists and albums.
Available on both iOS and Android, the chatbot can be accessed directly from the Home and Now Playing screens. Users can interact with the assistant by typing or speaking their requests, creating a more intuitive way to explore Spotify's vast content library.

Discover Music Through Natural Conversations
Unlike traditional search, Talk to Spotify enables users to ask questions in plain English. Listeners can request recommendations based on mood, genre, or listening habits, and then continue refining those suggestions through follow-up questions.
The assistant also doubles as a playback companion. Users can instantly queue songs, save tracks to their library, follow artists, or start playlists using simple voice or text commands.
More Than Music Recommendations
Beyond helping users find new songs, the AI assistant can answer contextual questions about the content they're listening to. For example, users can ask when an album was released, learn about the inspiration behind a song, or explore the themes discussed in podcasts and audiobooks.
This conversational approach aims to make Spotify more than just a streaming service by offering richer context around the content users enjoy.
Powered by Multiple AI Models
Spotify says the assistant is powered by a combination of its own AI technology and external AI models. However, the company has not revealed which third-party providers are being used.
The feature is currently available as a limited beta for English-speaking Premium subscribers aged 18 and above. At launch, Talk to Spotify is only rolling out in the United States, Ireland, and Sweden.
Part of Spotify's Growing AI Strategy
The introduction of Talk to Spotify marks another step in the company's broader AI roadmap. It joins existing AI-powered features such as AI DJ, further strengthening Spotify's focus on personalized audio experiences.
Spotify has not announced when the conversational assistant will expand to additional countries or support more languages. The company says feedback from the current beta will play a key role in shaping future updates before a wider rollout.
