Telegram Update Introduces Range of New Features Including DMs to Channels, HD Photo Sharing, and More
Telegram has rolled out its latest update, version 11.12.0, introducing a range of new features aimed at enhancing user experience. This update includes the ability to send direct messages to channel admins, improved voice message controls, and enhanced image quality options.
Direct Messaging for Channels
Users can now send private messages directly to the administrators or owners of channels. This feature allows subscribers to communicate with content creators without needing to share personal contact details. These subscriber messages are organised separately from the admin's personal chats. To initiate a direct message, users should tap the message bubble icon located at the bottom of any channel. Channel owners can activate this feature by navigating to Channel Settings and enabling Direct Messages.

Enhanced Voice Message Controls
Voice message functionality has been improved significantly. Users can now trim unwanted sections from their recordings by adjusting the start and end points of the clip. This eliminates the need to re-record if an error occurs; simply edit the message before sending it. The trimming option is accessible by swiping up to lock the recording. Additional voice segments can be added by tapping the microphone icon again, and both voice and video recordings can be paused and resumed during recording.
High-Definition Image Sharing
Telegram now offers a 'High Definition' mode for sending images, providing four times more pixel detail while maintaining a file size under 0.5 MB. To use this feature, users can tap the SD button in the photo editor or select Send in High Quality from the attachment menu.
Group Topics Layout Update
The layout for group topics has been updated with a new tabbed interface, allowing users to switch between a sidebar and a top bar for easier navigation through topics. To enable this feature, users should go to Group Settings and select Topics.
Additional Features
iOS users benefit from enhanced media sharing capabilities, as they can now send photos directly from their Photos app to Telegram Stories using the system share sheet without leaving the app. Polls have also been upgraded to support up to 12 options, and users can forward polls to Saved Messages for future reference or share them with other chats.
This update is available on both iOS and Android devices as version 11.12.0 or later. Android users can download it via telegram.org/android or through the Google Play Store. The introduction of these features reflects Telegram's commitment to improving user interaction and media sharing capabilities across its platform while maintaining privacy and ease of use for its subscribers.
