Tesla Model Y Launched in India at Approx. 60 Lakh: Tesla App Available for Download on iOS

Elon Musk's Tesla has made its debut in India's electric vehicle market by launching the Tesla Model Y and opening an Experience Centre in Mumbai. The Model Y is the first electric vehicle from the US-based company to be sold in India, with on-road prices starting at approximately Rs. 61 lakh in Delhi. Additionally, the Tessie app for iOS has been introduced on the App Store in India, offering a management platform for Tesla owners to monitor battery status, charging, and trips.

The Tesla Model Y is priced at Rs. 59.89 lakh (ex-showroom) for the rear-wheel drive variant in India. The Long Range RWD model starts at Rs. 67.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The standard exterior finish is Stealth Grey with black interiors, while other colour options range from Rs. 95,000 to Rs. 1.85 lakh. Opting for white interiors will cost an additional Rs. 95,000.

Tessie App Features and Pricing

To enhance the launch of the Model Y, Tesla has introduced the Tessie app exclusively on iOS in India. This app serves as a management tool for Tesla owners, enabling them to track trips, battery levels, charging status, and phantom drain comparisons with other users. The app also allows control of the vehicle using an Apple Watch or through a web browser on Mac or Windows PCs.

The Tessie app includes features like tracking Sentry events that trigger alarms and send notifications if sudden movements are detected or if someone attempts to open the EV's doors or trunk. A subscription is required to use Tessie, starting at Rs. 499 per month for the Legacy plan and going up to Rs. 1,499 per month for the Pro plan.

Experience Centre and Delivery Details

The new Tesla Experience Centre is located at Maker Maxity in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). Customers can explore the Model Y there following its inauguration today. Deliveries of the Tesla Model Y are expected to begin in Q3 2025 and are currently available for purchase and registration in Delhi, Gurugram, and Mumbai.

Unlocking full self-driving capabilities (FSD) on the Model Y costs an additional Rs. 6 lakh. This feature includes Navigate on Autopilot, Autopark, Summon, and Traffic and Stop Sign Control functionalities.

The Tessie app offers various subscription plans: monthly subscriptions start at Rs. 499 for Legacy and go up to Rs. 1,499 for Pro plans; yearly subscriptions are also available; lifetime subscriptions cost Rs. 19,900 for Basic and Rs. 29,900 for Pro plans.
