Threads Rebounds With New iOS Update: Unfollowed Subscriptions, Follows Tab, and Much More

Threads, the social networking application developed by Meta, has recently undergone a significant update for iOS, introducing a range of new and enhanced features.

Launched with high expectations, the app encountered difficulties in gaining a substantial user base due to limitations in its features and functionalities. However, with the recent major update for iOS, Threads aims to address these concerns and enhance the overall user experience.

Threads Rebounds With New iOS Update: Everything You Need to Know

The Latest Update: New and Enhanced Features

According to Cameron Roth, the developer of Threads, the latest update brings forth a host of exciting features. Let's explore some of the key additions and improvements:

Translation Capabilities: One of the notable features introduced in this update is the ability to translate text. Users can now engage with individuals who speak different languages, fostering cross-cultural interactions and connections.

Follows Tab in the Activity Feed: The update introduces a Follows tab within the Activity feed. This new tab allows users to conveniently view and track who has recently followed them.

Option to Subscribe to Unfollowed Users: Another significant addition is the option to subscribe to unfollowed users. This feature enables users to receive notifications from specific individuals without cluttering their timeline. It offers greater control over the content users wish to receive updates on.

Interface Improvements: The user interface has also undergone adjustments to provide a smoother and more streamlined experience. The introduction of tappable reposter labels enhances the loading and scrolling process when navigating through the activity feed.

Server-Side Activation and Android Update

While some features of the recent update may not be immediately available due to server-side activation, Meta aims to have them fully functional by the end of the day.

However, there is currently no information available about when the equivalent update will be released for Android users. Meta is likely to prioritize providing a consistent experience across platforms and will announce the update for Android users in due course.

Decline in Daily Active Users

Considering the significant drop in daily active users on Threads, plummeting from 49 million to 23.6 million on Android alone between July 7 and July 14, the microblogging app recognized the need for user-requested features.

Compared to its well-established competitor Twitter, Threads felt lacking in terms of functionality. However, with the recent update that addresses user concerns and introduces new features, Threads is determined to reverse this decline and regain its user base.
