Truecaller Launches New Family Protection Feature to Shield Your Family from Scam Calls
Truecaller has introduced Family Protection, a new feature inside the main app, aimed at turning digital safety. The service works on both Android and iOS, helping relatives support each other against scam attempts and unwanted phone calls in real time.
Family Protection allows users to create family groups that offer real-time protection against scams and unwanted calls. On Android, the Family Administrator can receive alerts during suspected scam calls made to other family members and even end those calls remotely.

How It Works
Family Protection lets you create a private group where up to five people can join as trusted members. Within this, everyone benefits from shared safety tools, while one person can be Family Admin, responsible for managing security settings and guiding how incoming calls are screened or blocked.
The Family Admin receives a dedicated control panel that covers protection levels, blocklists, and call handling rules. Admins can adjust how aggressively suspicious calls are filtered, update shared blocklists, and decide what happens when an unknown or flagged number attempts to reach any member of the group.
On Android devices, Family Protection adds extra remote support functions for the Family Admin. Admins can see alerts when a group member receives a potential scam call, view live status indicators such as battery level, phone use and availability, and even disconnect suspicious calls remotely when necessary.
Truecaller Family Protection availability
These tools are meant to give families better visibility into how phones are used, especially for relatives who might struggle with technology. The intention is to make it easier to intervene quickly and shield less tech-savvy members from increasingly complex scam tactics and high-pressure fraud attempts.
Family Protection is currently offered in four pilot countries: Sweden, Chile, Malaysia and Kenya. Truecaller plans to extend the feature to more regions, with India and other key markets scheduled to join the rollout in Q1 2026.
