Uber for Teens Launched in India Providing Safe and Reliable Transportion for Teenagers: Check Availability
Uber has launched a new service in India called 'Uber for Teens,' specifically designed for teenagers aged 13 to 17. This service aims to offer a secure and reliable transportation option for young riders. Uber has highlighted essential safety features, including GPS tracking, real-time ride monitoring, and an in-app emergency button, to ensure both teens and their parents feel safe.
A survey by Uber found that 92% of parents face difficulties with transportation options for their teens. Safety concerns were the biggest challenge for 72% of them. Additionally, 63% of parents use their own vehicles for extracurricular activities, while 61% do so for coaching classes.

Key Features of 'Uber for Teens'
Teen accounts come with parental oversight, allowing parents to create accounts for their teens. They can monitor rides in real time and receive ride summaries after trips. This feature provides added peace of mind. Trips booked through teen accounts are locked to a specific destination, ensuring drivers cannot alter the route.
Only drivers with high ratings and thorough background checks are eligible to drive teen riders. Safety features like PIN verification, RideCheck, and real-time tracking are always active and cannot be disabled. Teens also have the option to enable audio recording for enhanced security.
Teens can bring along other riders aged 13 to 17 with parental or guardian permission. All riders must sit in the back seat and wear seat belts throughout the trip. Parents also have the flexibility to book rides on behalf of their teens when needed.
Account Transition and Availability
When teens turn 18, their accounts transition into standard accounts with additional features. If they remain part of the Family Profile, parents can still track rides. Currently, Uber for Teens is available in 37 cities across India, including Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Kolkata.
Parents can access this feature by updating the Uber app and selecting "Add a Teen" under Family Profile settings. Uber plans to expand this service to more locations soon.
Prabhjeet Singh, President of Uber India and South Asia, commented on the launch: "We recognise the unique transportation challenges faced by teenagers and their families in India. With Uber for Teens, we are committed to addressing these challenges by providing a service that parents can trust and teens will find easy and appealing to use."
