UIDAI Unveils New Aadhaar App -- Verify Your ID with Just Your Face

At the third edition of Aadhaar Samvaad held in Delhi on April 8 (Tuesday), the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) unveiled a new Aadhaar mobile app designed to enhance user privacy, digital convenience, and control over personal data.

Themed around Innovation, Inclusion, and Integration, the event highlighted how Aadhaar continues to evolve as a powerful tool to strengthen governance and deliver benefits to citizens more effectively.

New Aadhaar App Launched

The new Aadhaar app will allow users to digitally verify and share their Aadhaar details, eliminating the need to carry physical cards or submit photocopies. With this app, Aadhaar number holders can choose exactly how much information they wish to share when accessing various services, thus placing greater control in the hands of users.

Whether you're traveling or simply forgot your Aadhaar card, there's no need to worry. The app features facial recognition-based authentication, allowing users to identify themselves securely using just their mobile device.

"New Aadhaar App, Face ID authentication via mobile app. No physical card, no photocopies," said Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on the social media platform X.

UIDAI's technology centre also demonstrated the app's features, including secure digital verification via QR code scanning or through a requesting application. This ensures data privacy while removing the hassles of submitting physical documentation.

Currently released as an early adopter version for a select group of users, including all registered participants of the Aadhaar Samvaad event, the app will undergo further refinement based on user and ecosystem partner feedback. UIDAI plans to roll it out for the general public in the coming days.
