VLC now comes with filters using which you can access the media player using voice from the launcher, on Android TV. The filters allow browsing of the files within the new VLC app a convenient approach. The new UI has SMB support, meaning your login process will face no complications. And, there will be no conflict occurring between SMBv1 and v2/v3 anymore.

The new VLC app comes with multi-selection icons with 'Ctrl' and 'Shift' keys. With these features, you can efficiently play videos using VLC on your Chromebooks. The new version's media information screen display has been modified which appears clearer. Even, the audio player design has been upgraded.

The audio player is similar to Google Play Music's 'now playing interface'. The player features a white bar below which includes playback buttons along with shuffle and repeat options. Other than that, the audio player comes with enhanced equalizer which when opened will show as sliders with all labeled bits and pieces.

Using the app, you can group your videos either by a name or a folder. The next VLC update will likely include a grid view for any kind of video grouping. The media titles look much better with highly exposed readability. And, the media library now doesn't include files extension and keywords from video files title.

As of now, the update is under the testing process and will take some time to appear on the PlayStore. In case, you want to have the latest version, you will have to download by going to APK Mirror.
