WhatsApp beta for Android gets ability to switch between video and voice calls and more
The latest WhatsApp beta update brings interesting features.
It looks like WhatsApp is not done with rolling out new features. The latest beta version of the app with the version number 2.17.285 seems to have brought in many new features to the users.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, the latest WhatsApp beta for Android brings the Storage Usage feature under the Settings menu. We already came across this feature that exists on WhatsApp for iOS. This feature lets you take a look at the storage space used by the different file types such as text, documents, photos, videos, GIFs, etc. on each chat and you can delete a specific file type on a specific chat or conversation and keep the rest intact.
Facebook is likely testing WhatsApp shortcut button on Android
Apart from the Storage Usage feature, it looks like there is another feature that includes push name for the unknown contacts in the beta version. When people who are not included in the contact list send you a message on WhatsApp, their details will be hidden. With the new update, you will be able to see their push name in the contact information. It is claimed that WhatsApp will give an option that will allow users to hide their contact information from the unknown contacts.
WhatsApp may soon let you delete messages that have been sent by mistake
WhatsApp is also said to include a feature to switch to video call from voice calling with the latest beta update. With this feature, both video and voice calls will be integrated and you can switch between the two as you wish seamlessly. WhatsApp is also claimed to allow you to zoom in on the profile picture of your contacts.
Notably, these are features those are under testing in the beta version of the app. There is no word on when these features will be rolled out officially. Also, we are not sure if all these features will be rolled out in the stable update.
