WhatsApp Introduces New Backgrounds, Filters, and Low-light Mode for Video Calls; Here’s How to Use?
WhatsApp has rolled out several new features to enhance users' video call experience on the platform. Users can now use filters and backgrounds for video calls for both one-on-one and group calls.
The Meta-owned instant messaging app also introduced low-light mode to enhance picture quality during video calls. Let's delve into these new updates and how they work.

WhatsApp Video Call Filters and Backgrounds
The video call update includes 10 filters such as Warm, Cool, Black & White, Light Leak, Dreamy, Prism Light, Fisheye, Vintage TV, Frosted Glass, and Duo Tone. Additionally, there are 10 new background options including Blur, Living Room, Office, Cafe, Pebbles, Foodie, Smoosh, Beach, Sunset, Celebration, and Forest.
As noted, users can also apply touch-up and low-light filters to improve video call quality. These enhancements aim to provide a more engaging and visually appealing communication experience on WhatsApp.
How to Use WhatsApp Filters and Backgrounds During a Video Call
First, make a video call to your friend on WhatsApp and select the effect icon placed at the top right corner and you can select the effects or backgrounds.
How to Turn on WhatsApp Low-light Mode During a Video Call
Step 1: First, make a video call and expand the screen
Step 2: Select the new effect icon and you will find a 'bulb' icon in the top right corner of the screen.
Step 3: Now, tap the 'bulb' icon to turn on the low-light mode during a video call.
These features are available for both Android and iOS users; however, you have to download and install the latest version of WhatsApp to get all of these new filters during the video call.
