WhatsApp May Soon Allow Indian Users to Make International Payment Feature via UPI

WhatsApp is stepping up its game in the digital payment arena by testing a feature that will allow users to make international payments directly through its app.

WhatsApp's International Payments

The leaked screenshots reveal a new "International payments" option within the Payments menu of the app. This innovative feature appears to come with a unique twist - it allows users to set start and end dates for activating the service.

However, it's important to note that the functionality will be restricted to countries where banks support international UPI services. For Indian users, this feature comes with a catch; it automatically expires after a certain period and requires manual reactivation.

The screenshot displays a new addition to the Payments menu, located just below the Forgot UPI PIN option. This new feature is titled "International Payments." Upon selection, it leads users to a distinct screen where they can specify the start and end dates for this feature and activate it. Based on the screenshot, users must input their UPI PIN to enable this feature.

The informant suggests that WhatsApp might offer a three-month period for its international payment service. This is a significant extension compared to Google Pay's seven-day transaction window.
