WhatsApp May Finally Support Multiple Accounts on iPhones: Here’s What’s Coming
Managing personal and professional WhatsApp accounts on iPhones may soon get a lot easier. According to a new report from WaBetaInfo, WhatsApp is currently testing a new multi-account feature on iOS that would allow users to add and switch between multiple accounts within the same app—without relying on WhatsApp Business or third-party workarounds.
The feature has been spotted in recent TestFlight beta builds, including versions 25.9.10.70 and 25.19.10.74, and shows signs of active development, although an official release date remains unconfirmed.

Switching Accounts Without Logging Out
The core idea behind this update is simple but useful: let iPhone users switch between WhatsApp accounts seamlessly, without having to log out or restart the app.
Users will be able to access a dedicated account management section in the app’s settings. From there, they can:
- View all linked accounts
- Add a new account using a separate phone number
- Or link an existing account by scanning a QR code
Each account will have its own chat history, settings, and notifications, helping users keep their conversations and preferences isolated. This could be especially useful for people juggling work and personal communication on the same device.
Notifications That Know Which Account You’re On
One of the more thoughtful additions being tested is a formatted notification system for multi-account users. If a message arrives on a secondary account, the notification will not only show the sender but also indicate which account received the message.
Tapping the notification will automatically switch to that account and open the chat, saving users from manual toggling. This small change could go a long way in making multi-account management feel smooth rather than clunky.
iPhone eSIM Users May Benefit Most
While the feature would benefit most users, it’s particularly relevant for iPhone users with eSIM support. With the ability to host multiple numbers on the same device, eSIM-enabled iPhones are already optimized for dual-line use. WhatsApp catching up to that hardware reality feels like a natural next step.
No Release Date Yet, But Testing Is Ongoing
WhatsApp hasn’t announced a rollout timeline yet. But given the continued iteration across recent beta versions, it’s safe to say the feature is moving forward. Whether it lands in the next public update or takes a few more months remains to be seen.
