WhatsApp Now Lets You Enjoy High-Res Video Calls and Brings Ten New Effects
With over 500 million active users in India WhatsApp has firmly established itself as a staple in our daily communication. This popularity extends globally, with the app facilitating over 2 billion calls each day.
Recognizing the growing preference for voice and video calls, WhatsApp has now introduced new features, aimed at making connections from both desktop and mobile platforms smoother and more engaging.

WhatsApp Introduces New Calling Features
Now, the instant messaging app will allow users to initiate calls directly from a group chat, offering the convenience of selecting specific members for the call. This ensures that users can communicate with precisely whom they intend, avoiding any unnecessary disturbances to others.
It is also bringing ten new video effects that promise to add a layer of fun to your video calls. These range from whimsical additions like puppy ears to more immersive experiences such as simulating underwater environments or providing props for karaoke, injecting a dose of entertainment into everyday conversations.
Moreover, the process of making calls via the WhatsApp desktop app has been streamlined. Users can now effortlessly access all necessary call functionalities, such as starting a call, generating a call link, or dialling a number directly from the calls tab.
Additionally, both desktop and mobile users can now benefit from more reliable connections and higher-resolution video. This means clearer visuals during both one-on-one and group calls, enhancing the overall calling experience.
In the same, WhatsApp is also working on two new features to enhance the group chat experience and make message management more efficient. It will show the number of group members currently online and remind users to reply the unread conversations. Both features are under development with expected to roll out in the coming days.
