WhatsApp Plus iOS Rollout Begins for Select Users: Custom Themes, Extra Chat Pins, New Ringtones
WhatsApp has reportedly started rolling out a new subscription-based tier called WhatsApp Plus for a limited number of iPhone users. The optional paid plan focuses on customisation and organisation tools without affecting the app's core messaging, voice calling, and video calling features, which remain free for everyone.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, the subscription introduces exclusive sticker packs, new themes, additional app icons, and enhanced chat management features. The rollout is currently limited but is expected to expand gradually to more users over the coming weeks.

WhatsApp Plus Availability and Pricing
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp Plus is currently supported on WhatsApp for iOS version 26.17.74 and is only available to select users running the latest stable build of the app. Users can check whether the subscription has been enabled for their account by visiting the Settings section in WhatsApp.
The report also states that WhatsApp Plus is limited to the standard WhatsApp Messenger app and is not available for WhatsApp Business users. The subscription follows a monthly billing system that automatically renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the next billing cycle. Users can manage or cancel the subscription through the App Store.
In some European markets, WhatsApp Plus is reportedly priced at EUR 2.49 (roughly Rs. 274) per month, although pricing may differ depending on the region. Some eligible users may also receive a free trial lasting either one month or one week.
WhatsApp Plus Features Focus on Customisation
The new subscription currently includes six premium features centred around personalisation. Subscribers gain access to exclusive sticker packs featuring animated overlay effects. While standard WhatsApp users can view these stickers when shared in chats, only subscribers can download them from the sticker store.
WhatsApp Plus also allows users to customise the app with 18 accent colours and 14 alternative app icons. Available colours reportedly include Vibrant Blue, Royal Purple, Forest Green, Burgundy, and Golden Yellow, with the chosen shade applied across the app's interface. The additional icons range from minimalist styles to more visually detailed designs.
Extra Organisation Tools and More Features Expected
Apart from visual customisation, WhatsApp Plus also expands several organisation-focused tools. Subscribers can pin up to 20 chats simultaneously, compared to the standard limit of three chats. The feature also allows users to apply the same theme, ringtone, and notification tone across all conversations within a custom chat list.
Additionally, the subscription introduces 10 exclusive ringtone options, including Flutter, Tempo, Ripple, Quest, Drum, Murmur, Flux, Meadow, Bubble, and Carnival.
According to the report, WhatsApp is expected to add more premium features to WhatsApp Plus in future updates. However, users who do not subscribe will continue to have full access to WhatsApp's regular messaging and calling features without any additional charges.
