WhatsApp reportedly Blocking Links to Rival messaging app Telegram

Popular Messaging app, Whatsapp has reportedly blocked links to its rival app Telegram. Whatsapp did not recognize Telegram.me as a link and failed to open any new page for the telegram app. Whatsapp had previously blocked links to other websites as well. The list includes some torrents and other websites which have reportedly being blocked by the popular messaging app.

Telegram has the reputation for being the safest messaging app. Telegram's safety has drawn the likes of ISIS and terrorists organisations who like to communicate away from prying eyes. However several messaging apps like Telegram and others have suspended such accounts who are suspected of such activity.

Most recently, the company blocked links to Tsu.co, a app that pays users part of its ad revenue when users click or share links. WhatsApp or Facebook is yet to comment on the blockage of Tsu.co.

It is still unclear if the Telegram app was blocked because of a technical glitch or if it was intentionally blocked by Facebook owned Whatsapp. This is not he first time that Facebook owned Whatsapp has raised eyebrows from critics and users and has come under heavy criticism for its polices.
