WhatsApp will soon let you stay away from spam messages
Spam messages are a major concern and it looks like WhatsApp is working on a way to prevent you from receiving such messages. This will definitely be helpful as spam has started spreading on WhatsApp.
Spam is becoming a widespread concern and the same has made its way to WhatsApp as well. It is common to receive messages from unknown contacts to send you messages stating "WhatsApp is going to cost us money soon." And, such messages request you to share the same message with 10 people or groups in order to enjoy the service for free. This is just one example as there are many such messages that you might get.
These types of messages are false and not many users believe in such messages. Though you choose to ignore these messages, you might get annoyed easily because of these. WhatsApp already has a check for this. Whenever an unknown contact sends a message, WhatsApp asks you if it is a spam and gives you options to report or block the user. You can also report the contact as spam from the Contact Info section.
Now, the recent information that is making the rounds all over the internet is that WhatsApp is coming up with a new way to prevent spam. And, let's take a look at the same from here.
WhatsApp’s new feature is interesting
A report by WABetaInfo citing folks at Whatsappen claims the company spokesperson revealing that WhatsApp is watching spam closely. They have decided to bring an interesting new feature that will fight against spam, claims the report. It is said that the feature was spotted in the beta version of the app with the number 2.17.430. It is said that this feature will be seen in both the iOS and Android versions of the messaging platform.
Change in forwarded messages
A spammer will not stop with sending spam messages to just one contact. Such a person will send spam messages to multiple contacts by selecting the recipients from his or her contact list. The contact list will be picked up from the interest or any registration service. The spam messages will have unwanted advertising and fake news and invite the recipients to forward it to their contacts. WhatsApp is planning to bring a change in the forwarded messages.
You can forward a message only 25 times
It is claimed that the company will do something about the messages those have been forwarded several times. When a message is forwarded several times, it is said that it will inform you about the same. You can forward a message only 25 times without getting any alerts. If you exceed the limit, it will alert you ‘Forwarded Many Times' in the forward picker.
You can use the broadcast list feature
If you are in a need to send a message to several contacts, WhatsApp suggests that you use the Broadcast list feature. In this, only the contacts who have your phone number saved in their address book will receive the message. Eventually, this will put an end to spam messages as the spammers cannot make use of the Broadcast List feature as the recipients will not have their number phone saved in their Contact List.
