The Peek feature allows iOS users to preview the content on the app without having to open it. To use the Pop feature, users have to firmly press a notification and will be able to view content and navigate to it. So users can also browse through conversations, without actually opening it. Pop allows users to quickly open the chat.

While the 3D touch feature is being used by apps like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, other companies too are leveraging the technology. The Peek and Pop 3D feature is only available to iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. Whatsapp is a sharing platform and several third party apps are yet to implement the 3D Touch feature to their apps while being used with Whatsapp.

The new update to the WhatsApp app, which has been updated to v2.12.11 also supports a rich preview for links that are shared within the app. Users can also opt out of the rich preview feature if they may choose to do so. Users can also view all starred messages under the Starred messages section. Whatsapp for Android recently got the Starred Messages feature.
