WhatsApp Web Is Finally Fixing Its Most Boring Problem! Fresh Themes Could Be Coming Soon

WhatsApp Web is expected to soon let users personalise chats in far more detail, with new controls for colours and backgrounds directly in the desktop interface. The feature, still under development, is tipped to reach beta testers first before Meta considers a broader rollout.

On iOS and Android, WhatsApp already lets people tweak individual chats using different wallpapers and colour schemes. That flexibility makes long conversations easier on the eyes and more pleasant to use. Desktop users, however, have so far managed with far fewer visual customisation tools.

Tired of Grey Chats? WhatsApp Web Has Good News

WhatsApp Web Chat Themes and Customisation Options

Reports now indicate that Meta is building chat themes specifically for WhatsApp Web, bringing the desktop experience closer to the mobile app. Early previews show several preset themes that adjust both the message bubble colours and the background, giving users a unified look instead of simple wallpaper swaps.

These new WhatsApp Web chat themes should sit inside the web client’s settings menu, according to the same reports. From there, users will likely be able to browse and apply themes in a single place, creating a more cohesive and visually consistent interface across different chats.

WhatsApp Web Chat Themes Controls

A key part of the work is chat-level customisation for WhatsApp Web, the report added. With this, people can assign different themes to individual conversations, which may help separate personal messages, work threads and noisy group chats at a glance, using colour and background cues.

The same report claims WhatsApp is testing a broad catalogue of WhatsApp Web chat themes, possibly running into dozens of choices. These options could show slight shifts in shades and styles, giving users more control than the current desktop setup, which relies mostly on basic wallpaper changes.

Privacy and Testing Phase

Visual tweaks made through WhatsApp Web chat themes will stay private to the person applying them. Other participants inside a conversation will continue to see the standard interface on their own devices. Their view will not change, even if another user selects a bold or colourful theme.

The feature for WhatsApp Web chat themes is still in active development and is not yet available on the public build. The report notes it should appear first in a future beta update, giving early adopters a chance to test it before any wider release is considered.
