WhatsApp Web’s Strange Scrolling Bug Seems to Be Gone—For Now
Earlier today, WhatsApp Web users started noticing something unusual: they couldn’t scroll through their chat feed. I didn’t personally face the problem on my account, but a colleague of mine did—and it wasn’t just him.
Reports began surging on Downdetector and across social media, where users described the same scrolling glitch.

What Users Experienced
From what people shared online, the bug would freeze the chat feed even though scrolling worked perfectly fine on other sites. Some even suggested it had something to do with stickers or emoji. Refreshing the tab temporarily fixed it, but the issue would return within minutes, making WhatsApp Web frustrating to use for work or ongoing conversations.
Not Fully Fixed Yet
By around 6 PM IST, reports on Downdetector had dropped, suggesting the issue might have been addressed. But it hasn't gone away entirely. A fresh surge of complaints has appeared again at the time of writing, showing that the problem lingers for at least some users.
Meta Stays Silent
What makes this more confusing is the silence from Meta. There's no official explanation about what triggered the bug or whether a proper fix is being rolled out. Without that, it's hard to say if this is just a temporary hiccup or an issue that will stick around until patched.
For now, WhatsApp Web seems to be working normally (at least for me), but the scroll bug clearly hasn't been stamped out completely.
