WhatsApp Will Soon Allow Users to Transfer Chat History Without iCloud
WhatsApp is said to be developing a feature that will let users migrate their chat history to another iPhone without iCloud. This option will arrive as a boon to iPhone users struggling to manage with the 5GB free storage limit offered by iCloud.
According to a WABetaInfo report, this new feature was unearthed after installing the new WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.9.0.72 update on the TestFlight app. The new chat backup option is also rolling out to some beta testers, the report claims.

How to Transfer Chats Without iCloud
Once this new feature rolls out, it will be available to iPhone users within WhatsApp Settings > Chats. The user can then transfer their entire chat history and media files to another iPhone without using an iCloud backup.
To do so, users will have to prep their new iPhone by first downloading WhatsApp and registering with the original WhatsApp number. Then, they will have to scan the QR code on the new phone with their old iPhone to transfer their chat history.

This process is quite similar to the Android version, which allows Android users to to migrate their chat history and media files to another device without relying on Google Drive. Do note that this feature is in beta, so it's only visible to some beta testers.
The option to transfer WhatsApp chats between iPhone without depending on iCloud is a welcome feature, since users will no longer have to worry about iCloud's storage constraint. To recall, iCloud users only get 5GB storage for free, which can be increased only after paying for an iCloud subscription.
WhatsApp's upcoming chat transfer feature will remove the dependence on iCloud. This will not only make chat transfer seamless, but also do away with the hassle of a 5GB file limit.
According to the report, the option to transfer iPhone chats without iCloud is currently available to select beta testers with the latest beta update for iOS on the TestFlight app. We can expect this feature to roll out to some more testers over the next few days.
