WhatsApp Will Soon Let Users Pin Messages Within Chats and Groups

WhatsApp continues to test various features for the popular messaging app, and has recently been spotted testing the ability to pin messages in chats as well as groups. This feature will highlight important messages at the top of the chat, making them easily accessible to users.

Pinned Messages: Here's How It Will Work

According to a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is releasing a new update, bringing the version up to 2.23.3.17. The report states that the company is working on a feature that will allow users to pin important messages from individual chats and groups to the top of the chat. WhatsApp users will be able to pin messages once this function is fully released in a future update.

This feature will make it easier to organize chats and keep track of messages which may otherwise get lost in the chatter within groups. Pinned messages will help users to focus on the important topics. Currently, the ability to pin messages is under development and we can expect the feature to arrive in a future update of the app.

Calling Shortcut in the Works

WhatsApp is reportedly working on adding a shortcut for calls. According to a WABetaInfo report, users will soon be able to create a calling shortcut within the app. Users can do so by tapping the contact cell within the contacts list and adding a new calling shortcut. This will automatically add the shortcut to the device's home screen.

The ability to add calling shortcuts is reportedly under development. The feature will likely arrive in a future update of the app.

WhatsApp continues to introduce new features and improvements to the app. Just last week, the company shared in its India Monthly Report that it had banned 36.77 lakh accounts in India in December 2022. Of these banned accounts, WhatsApp claimed to have proactively blocked 13.89 lakh users.
