X Launches ‘Chat’, a WhatsApp Alternative With Video Calls, Disappearing Messages, and Screenshot Blocking
X (previously known as Twitter) has introduced an encrypted messaging service called Chat. This update enhances the basic direct messaging system by adding several functionalities.
Users can now share files and engage in voice and video calls. Additionally, messages can be edited or deleted, set to disappear automatically, and users will receive notifications if someone attempts to take a screenshot.

Enhanced Privacy Features
The Chat feature on X prioritises user privacy with end-to-end encryption for chats and file sharing. It ensures that there are no advertisements or tracking involved, offering complete privacy to its users. Moreover, it includes options to block screenshots and notify users of any screenshot attempts.
Currently, the Chat feature is being rolled out for iOS devices and the web. The company has announced that it will be available on Android soon. In addition to these features, X is also developing a voice memo function that will allow users to send audio messages.
Secure Messaging on X
The introduction of Chat marks a significant upgrade in secure messaging on X. Users can enjoy an ad-free experience with no tracking involved. The ability to edit or delete messages adds flexibility, while the option to make messages disappear enhances security.
These updates reflect X's commitment to providing a more secure and private communication platform for its users. By integrating these features, X aims to offer a comprehensive messaging solution that caters to modern communication needs.
