Xiaomi acknowledges WhatsApp obsolete error and comes with a fix
WhatsApp obsolete error faced by select users in the last week is blamed to be caused by the Mi App store’s auto update feature.
A few days back, WhatsApp was hit by an Obsolete error. The error prompted select users to update to the latest version of WhatsApp in order to continue using the service but there was no update available on the link that redirected users to the Google Play Store. Back then, reports pointed out that the issue is faced only by Xiaomi users. Now, Xiaomi has acknowledged the WhatsApp Obsolete error.
Xiaomi has admitted that it had pushed a beta version of WhatsApp accidentally to its app store and some users had downloaded the same. The company has asked users to update the app to fix the obsolete issue. So, the blame falls on the Mi App store of Xiaomi as the engineers at the company had uploaded the beta version of the APK file on the app store.
Auto update of Mi App store takes the blame
Notably, the Xiaomi Mi App store has an auto update option that is enabled by default. The users who had this option enabled have faced the obsolete error and that has caused the chaos. Now, the company has rectified the error and updated the Mi App store with the latest version of WhatsApp. And, an update to this latest version of the app should be fine to resolve all the trouble.
WhatsApp Obsolete error fix
The issue was faced on January 13 by many users. Since then, users had come up with fixes such as uninstalling and re-installing WhatsApp from Google Play Store and changing the date on their smartphone. We have also come up with the steps to resolve the WhatsApp Obsolete error faced by some users.
Regarding the same, Xiaomi posted a statement that, "A few Xiaomi users reported an issue with WhatsApp on their smartphones. After a thorough investigation, we learned that a beta version of WhatsApp was pushed out on our Mi App Store a few days ago, which some users updated to. We have updated our App store listing with a newer version, approved by WhatsApp, which we encourage any users facing issues, to update to. We apologise for any inconvenience faced by our Mi Fans, and promise to be more vigilant going forward."
