YouTube Introduces More Control Options to Premium Users

YouTube has unveiled new features for its Premium users including a jump-ahead button, picture-in-picture for YouTube Shorts, and early access to experimental features. The Jump Ahead feature allows premium users to skip their favourite part of a video.

Users will now see a 'jump ahead' button that takes them directly to key moments in the video. This feature has used artificial intelligence and viewership data and is currently available to all US Premium subscribers on Android. It will be launched for iOS users in the coming weeks.

Android users can now multitask on other apps while watching their favourite YouTube Shorts with the picture-in-picture feature. This feature will allow users to text friends and browse social media feeds without existing Shorts feed.

Moreover, YouTube Premium subscribers can now enjoy early access to the latest experimental features on YouTube such as Smart Downloads for YouTube Shorts, which automatically downloads Shorts for offline viewing and the Conversational AI tool, which enhances the viewing experience by answering questions and suggesting related content without interrupting playback.

This feature can be accessed by tapping "Ask" beneath select videos. YouTube is also testing a redesigned watch page on the web that aims to make it easier to find related content and engage with comments.
