Zomato Changes Company Name to Eternal, App Remains Unchanged

Food and grocery delivery giant Zomato has decided to change its corporate name to Eternal. This decision was approved by the company's board on Thursday (Feb 6). Despite this change, the brand name for its food delivery service and app will continue to be Zomato.

"Our board has approved this change today and I request our shareholders to also support this change. If and when it is approved, our corporate website will transition from zomato.com to eternal.com. We will also change our stock ticker," Zomato Founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal said in a letter to shareholders.

Company Structure and Future Plans

Eternal will encompass four primary businesses: Zomato, Blinkit, District, and Hyperpure. This restructuring reflects the company's evolving focus beyond just food delivery. The acquisition of Blinkit marked a significant shift in the company's trajectory.

Goyal explained that the internal use of "Eternal" began after acquiring Blinkit. It was used to differentiate between the company entity and its brand or app. He mentioned that with Blinkit's growth, it felt appropriate to publicly rename Zomato Ltd as Eternal Ltd.

The Significance of 'Eternal'

"Eternal is a powerful name, and to be honest, it scares me to my core. It is a tall order to live up to. Because 'Eternal' carries both a promise and a paradox," Goyal added in his letter. "This isn't just a name change; it is a mission statement. A reminder etched into our identity that we will endure — not because we are here, but because we need to get there."

The renaming signifies more than just a rebranding effort; it embodies the company's mission for longevity and growth across various sectors. The transition from zomato.com to eternal.com will occur once shareholder approval is secured.

This strategic move highlights Zomato's ambition to expand its influence beyond food delivery, aiming for sustained success in diverse areas under the new banner of Eternal Ltd.
