Truecaller Rolls Out Family Protection Feature in India: How It Benefits Users
Truecaller introduced a new Family Protection feature back in December last year. It was first made available in several global markets, including Sweden, Chile, Malaysia, and Kenya. Now, the leading global communications platform is extending this feature to India.
Truecaller's Family Protection is a digital shield designed to protect the entire household, especially elders, from the rapidly evolving landscape of predatory scams. The service works on both Android and iOS, helping family members support each other against scam attempts and unwanted phone calls in real time.

How It Benefits Users
Family Protection allows users to create a private group where up to five people can join as trusted members that offer real-time protection against scams and unwanted calls. Within this, everyone benefits from shared safety tools, while one person can be Family Admin, responsible for managing security settings and guiding how incoming calls are screened or blocked.
The admin can receive real-time fraud alerts and a remote call hang-up feature, allowing them to end suspicious calls for any member of the group instantly. Even admin will have a dedicated control panel that covers protection levels, blocklists, and call handling rules.
He or she can adjust how aggressively suspicious calls are filtered, update shared blocklists, and decide what happens when an unknown or flagged number attempts to reach any member of the group. However, members cannot see each other's call logs, messages, or personal data, ensuring that protection does not come at the cost of personal boundaries.
While Family Protection is free to use, there is a Premium Family Plan subscription, offering a suite of advanced safety features designed to deliver comprehensive protection for every member of the group.
