Apple’s Siri Overhaul Leaks Ahead of WWDC 2026: Dynamic Island Integration, AI Chatbot, and More
Apple could finally be preparing a major AI upgrade for Siri. Ahead of WWDC 2026, a Bloomberg report has revealed illustrations of a redesigned Siri experience, a new chatbot-style interface, and broader AI-powered changes expected with iOS 27.
The reported designs are based on information seen by Bloomberg reporters and sources familiar with Apple's plans. However, the software remains under development, and the final version could differ from the leaked renders.

Siri May Move into the Dynamic Island
According to the report, Siri is being rebuilt as a more integrated system-level assistant. Instead of appearing as a separate overlay, Siri could operate directly through the Dynamic Island.
Users will reportedly continue to activate Siri by voice or via the power button. Apple is also said to be introducing a new "Search or Ask" interface, accessible by swiping down from the top centre of the display. The feature would combine system search, Siri suggestions, app shortcuts, and AI assistance in a single hub.
Users could search messages, notes, calendars, and apps, launch shortcuts, create appointments, send texts, or search the web without leaving the interface.
Support for ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude
One of the biggest changes could be support for multiple AI models. Bloomberg reports that Apple is testing a system that lets users route queries to third-party AI services directly from Siri.
While ChatGPT integration already exists, Apple is reportedly evaluating support for Google's Gemini and Anthropic's Claude as well. The leaked illustrations show a menu that allows users to choose their preferred AI assistant.
Apple is also said to be developing a dedicated Siri app that resembles modern AI chatbots. The interface may include conversation history, text and voice input, and support for analysing photos and documents.
AI Expands Across Camera, Photos, and Shortcuts
Apple's AI efforts reportedly extend beyond Siri. The Camera app could gain a dedicated AI mode that allows users to photograph objects and instantly send them for identification or analysis.
The Photos app is expected to receive AI-powered editing tools such as Reframe and Extend, enabling users to adjust image composition or generate missing portions of a photo. Natural-language editing commands are also reportedly being tested.
Meanwhile, the Shortcuts app may become far easier to use. Instead of manually building automations, users could simply describe a task, and Siri would create the workflow automatically.
With iOS 27, Apple appears to be integrating AI across core iPhone experiences rather than treating it as a standalone feature. Whether these upgrades are enough to close the gap with Google and Samsung will become clearer when the company officially unveils iOS 27 at WWDC 2026.
