Apple Teaming Up with Google and Nvidia to Overhaul Siri: Expect More Details During WWDC 2026
Apple is preparing a major Siri upgrade for September that will combine Apple Intelligence with Google's cloud-based AI models. While many Siri tasks will continue to run directly on Apple devices, a new report suggests that more complex requests will be handled by Google's Gemini models running on Nvidia hardware. The changes are expected to be discussed around WWDC 2026, which begins on June 8.
Apple Taps Google Gemini for Complex Siri Requests
According to The Information, Apple and Google have reached an agreement that allows demanding Siri queries to be processed using Google's large Gemini models. These models run on Google's data centres powered by Nvidia's Blackwell B200 chips. To address privacy concerns, user data will reportedly be protected through Nvidia's hardware-based confidential computing technology.

The Blackwell B200, introduced in 2024 as the successor to Nvidia's Hopper architecture, is designed specifically for large language models and AI workloads. Its use marks a notable shift for Apple, which has traditionally preferred controlling the key technologies behind its products.
Questions Emerge Around Private Cloud Compute
The report also raises questions about Apple's Private Cloud Compute platform. Introduced alongside Apple Intelligence, the system uses Mac-series chips in Apple-operated servers to provide secure cloud processing. Apple reportedly tested a modified version of Gemini on these servers but found performance lacking. Despite this, the Private Cloud Compute branding is expected to remain part of Apple's AI strategy.
Apple Intelligence debuted at WWDC 2024 with promises of a more capable and personalized Siri. However, several of the most advanced features were delayed, leading to criticism from users and industry observers. WWDC 2026 is expected to provide an update on those postponed capabilities and introduce new AI-powered Siri features.
Siri Redesign and Legal Challenges Continue
The company is also facing legal pressure. Apple has agreed to pay $250 million to settle a US class-action lawsuit tied to delayed Siri features announced in 2024. Eligible iPhone owners could receive compensation of up to $95.
Meanwhile, Bloomberg reports that Siri is undergoing a major redesign in iOS 27. Apple is reportedly transforming Siri into a chatbot-style AI assistant capable of competing more directly with ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. The revamped experience will reportedly integrate deeply with Dynamic Island while also receiving a dedicated Siri app.
These developments come amid reported tensions between Apple and OpenAI. Despite bringing ChatGPT integration to Siri, Image Playground, and Apple's operating systems in 2024, the partnership has reportedly become strained, with OpenAI considering legal action against Apple. Together, these moves highlight Apple's increasingly complex AI strategy as it prepares the next generation of Siri.
