Canon introduces PowerShot Elph 520 HS and PowerShot Elph 110 HS cameras
Canon announced the addition of two new models to their PowerShot series. Both where announced during the Consumer electronics show. The cameras feature automated image stabilization which adjusts the images based on the capture mode that is whether capturing in macro or in a tripod. The feature is abbreviated as Intelligent IS and is one of the main marketing features of the cameras. The models are named as PowerShot Elph 520 HS and PowerShot Elph 110 HS.
PowerShot Elph 520 HS is the successor of Elph 500 HS and will replace the same in the months to come. This camera uses microSD cards as its storage device and it is the very first time the company is using this storage mechanism in its models. The company opted for microSD card because of it small size, and this makes the camera very compact. The camera has now 0.88 inch thickness only. The new model has gone in for a boxy type design when compared to its curvy older sibling. But the camera has good ergonomics and aids the user in taking good quality pictures.
The backside-illuminated CMOS sensor has a resolution of 10 mega pixels which is more than enough to capture detailed high definition pictures. The zoom range is from 28 mm to 336 mm. The rear portion is provided with a 3 inch LCD screen. But it does not have touch interface like Elph 500 HS. The camera can record videos with 1080p resolution and at a speed of 24 frames per second. The camera records stereo audio too. 58 scene types are available in which the needed one can be chosen according to the exposure required.
Canon PowerShot Elph 110 HS stands apart from the other in the fact that it does not have the zoom range as compared with the other. But it offers 16 mega pixels image resolution. This model too shares the same Digic 5 image processor and has got Face ID features just like Elph 520 HS. This camera will have 5X zoom and has about 28 scene modes. The scene modes will be automatically selected by the camera if is put in Smart auto mode. This camera is available in a range of colours too so that the user can select the appropriate one according to his/her liking.
Canon PowerShot Elph 520 HS comes with a price tag of about Rs.15,500/- in India. Canon PowerShot Elph 110 HS has a slightly lesser price tag and is at about Rs.13,000/- in India.
