Leica is out with a new camera Leica M9 Monochrome which is claimed to be the world’s first ever black and white digital camera. Leica is expecting it to be a big hit in the camera market with its special black and white sensors. Its overall appearance and other specs are also quite worth appreciating. With advanced specs, this camera will be charged comparatively a higher price.
Key features of Leica M9 Monochrome include the following.
- 18-megapixel CCD sensor
- ISO 320 to ISO 10,000 sensitivity range
- Data histogram display
- Sharper black and white sensors
The design is made in such a way that the light never gets separated into colours. As a result there will be no need of colour algorithms which leads to complicacy. This camera will deliver black and white outputs that will be comparatively sharper than a gadget with colour sensitive sensor. Optimisation of exposures and precise correction is made possible with the help of data histogram display. This display provides unmodified and unprocessed raw data.
Discreet handling of this camera is made possible with comfortable design which is some what similar to Leica's M9-P. The styling of this camera is made by the inspiration from M9-P. The design includes top plate of matt black chrome and the product name is noted on the accessory shoe. This camera has options to use any of the Leica M lenses which are out in the market from 1954 onwards.
Now a day people who love Black and white photography are increasing as they look forward to this theme as a good expressive medium. The black and white sensor with Leica M9 Monochrome is sure to deliver outstanding image quality.
Even though Leica claims this as the first ever black and white digital camera, Kodak and Phase One have disputed this statement claiming that they already brought out black and white cameras in the market by early 2000s itself.
Leica M9 Monochrome will be made available in the camera market most probably by this July. But certain other sources reported that this camera will be out by August only. Anyhow camera world is expecting a fast release of this black and white digital camera from Leica.
This new camera product from Leica can be purchased at a price of around Rs.4,20,000/-. Leica is optimistic about the success of this model irrespective of the hefty price tag.
