New Pentax mirror less Digital camera unveils: Pentax K-01
Many camera manufactures and photography professionals are looking forward for the CP+ camera and photo imaging show of 2012. The show will be held next month in Japan and will be the venue for many manufactures to introduce their imaging gears and other associated accessories.
Pentax too will be launching one of their new cameras on this event. They have introduced many high quality imaging gears in the past and it is expected that the legacy will be carried on by the latest devices. The model they are going to introduce will be Pentax K-01.
This isn’t a DSLR camera but a mirror less camera featuring an interchangeable lens. Not much of the specs and details about the device are known as for now. Japanese technology site Digicame-info has posted some of the details and it seems like the information they have are credible.
Speculated features and specifications of Pentax K-01:
Similar sensor and rear LCD as in the K5
Lens: DA 40 mm F2.8XS
Three lens kits available
Shutter speed 30 seconds- 1/4000 sec
Integrated pop-up flash
Full HD video recording
Different colour options available (Black, white and black and yellow combination)
Dimensions: 121 mm x 79 mm x 59 mm (W x H x D)
Weight: 560 gram (including battery)
This camera will belong to the category of compact system cameras. The design and styling will have similarities to the Pentax K-r and the Optio compact series, but there won’t be an optical view finder or mirror. K-01 will be a much larger camera than the normal compact system cameras but will have a manageable size.
The user can choose from within three colour schemes. Since it weighs only 560 grams with the battery, the camera will be easy to carry around and shoot with. One other rumour is that Marc Newson, the famous industrial designer, is involved in the designing of the camera.
The large size of the camera would enable the user to utilize the present K-mount with this system. This has an advantage that the existing users can opt for the new camera system without having to buy additional camera lenses or an array of new imaging accessories to go with it. DSLR cameras lenses can too be fitted with it.
Pentax K-01 price tag is not known as for now. More details may unveil during the coming weeks.
