Canon Launches EOS R6V in India With 7K Open Gate Video and Power Zoom Lens: Check Price, Specs

Canon has launched the EOS R6V in India alongside the new RF 20-50mm F4L IS USM lens, and this setup is clearly aimed more at filmmakers and content creators than traditional photographers.

The company is positioning the EOS R6V as a video-focused full-frame camera designed for modern creator workflows, especially for creators shooting weddings, documentaries, YouTube content, interviews, and vertical-first social media videos.

Canon is also pitching the launch as part of its broader “#IndiaInMotion” creator initiative focused on India’s growing filmmaking and creator ecosystem.

7K Open Gate Recording and Vertical Video Support

One of the biggest highlights here is 7K Open Gate recording.

The EOS R6V records using the camera’s full sensor area, which gives creators more flexibility to crop and repurpose footage later for different platforms. That’s especially useful if you’re shooting once but editing separately for YouTube, Instagram Reels, and TikTok.

Canon has also built the camera with vertical content creators in mind. There’s a dedicated vertical tripod socket, automatic UI rotation, and physical controls designed to make portrait shooting feel less awkward.

The company says the built-in cooling fan allows the EOS R6V to record significantly longer compared to the EOS R6 Mark III, especially for long-form interviews and live events.

Canon’s First Full-Frame L-Series Power Zoom Lens

Alongside the camera, Canon also introduced the RF 20-50mm F4L IS USM lens.

This is Canon’s first full-frame L-series lens with built-in power zoom functionality. The zoom system supports smooth transitions for video work and allows users to control zoom speed across multiple levels.

The 20mm wide end should work well for establishing shots, interiors, and handheld vlogging, while the 50mm end is more suited for tighter framing and conversational shots.

Canon also says the lens design avoids barrel extension during zooming, which helps maintain balance while using gimbals and rigs.

Stabilisation, Autofocus, and Creator Features

The EOS R6V uses a 32.5-megapixel full-frame sensor and supports up to 40fps continuous shooting in stills mode.

Canon has included five-axis in-body image stabilisation alongside Digital Movie IS and lens stabilisation support. The setup also supports subject tracking IS, which adjusts stabilisation based on subject movement during recording.
