Canon Powershot G1X Mark III will boast 80D's sensor
Canon is giving the next camera from the G1X series an upgrade by equipping the Canon Powershot G1X Mark III with the sensor of Canon EOS 80D.
Canon Powershot G1X series of compact point and shoot cameras from the brand are known for their uncompromising quality and a rather boastful design. The G1X cameras make for a perfect travel companion. Canon is now giving the next camera from the series a much-deserved upgrade. The Canon Powershot G1X Mark III will be equipped with the sensor of Canon EOS 80D which has had the privilege of being celebrated as Canon's one of the most reliable semi-pro camera.
The Powershot G1X Mark III will feature a built-in 24-72 mm f/2.8 lens and will retail for $1,299 (approximately Rs. 84,100). The product will be released in November 2017 in the US. The G1X Mark I and Mark II were a couple of pocket-sized yet powerful cameras and with the introduction of the latest camera from the series the entire dynamics of the G1X series will change.
The previous products from the series were released at least half a decade back and Mark III is a well-thought successor. However, there is a bit of contradiction in the lineage of the camera. It certainly borrows the name of a G1X but it is more closely associated with the G5X series.
The camera has an electronic viewfinder, which uses a high-resolution 2.36-million dot OLED screen. The G1X Mark III also has a 3-inch LCD touchscreen that flips out and around 270 degrees. The G1X Mark III has an ISO range of 100-25,600 which should allow users to pull out not too noisy pictures up to ISO 800. As already mentioned, it borrows 24.2-megapixel APS-C sensor with dual pixel autofocus from Canon EOS 80D.
