Elephone to launch a 4K Action Camera to compete with XiaoYi and GoPro

Action camera apparently appears to be ‘the next' thing in the fast moving smartphone industry. After the entry of Xiaomi into the Action Camera market, another noted Chinese brand Elephone is all but set to join the Action Camera bandwagon.

Elephone have officially confirmed that they are indeed working on an action camera. However the uniqueness of the upcoming camera lies in the fact that it can shoot 4K video. Apparently the XiaoYi action camera launched by Xiaomi earlier this year comes with only Full HD recording capability.

Furthermore the folks at Gizchina who had got in touch with Elephone to confirm the news reports that the camera will be called the ELE CAM 4K Action Camera. The leaked image of the alleged action camera that was spotted yesterday shows a design similar to the one seen on the GoPro Hero and XiaoYi devices. However the ELE CAM 4K that comes in a strikingly bright yellow colour.

The ELE CAM 4K is reported to come with a 16MP Omnivision OV4689 sensor and an Allwinner V3 chipset. Despite the tall 4K claims the device is capable of recording it at only 15fps. Additionally the camera supports 2.7K at 30fps, Full HD (1080p) at 60fps and HD (720p) at 120fps. The alleged camera also comes with in-built WiFi, hence sharing images on the go or controlling the setting of the camera via your smartphone won't be a hassle.

Elephone action camera will further come with a 170 degree wide angle lens (similar to its competitors). The Chinese brand will be including a waterproof case along with the action camera to draw the interest of the sports enthusiasts.
