Nikon India Launches 'Wonders of the Wild' Contest in Collaboration with WWF-India

Nikon India has unveiled the inaugural season of its 'Wonders of the Wild' photography and videography contest, a collaborative effort with the Worldwide Fund for Nature - India (WWF-India). Aimed at recognizing and rewarding the skills of wildlife photographers and videographers across India, the contest spans a one-and-a-half-month period, concluding on March 3, 2024.

The contest aims to inspire wildlife photographers and videographers to unleash their creativity and visual storytelling prowess. It seeks to capture the vibrance of Indian wildlife while promoting the conservation of the country's rich biodiversity.

A Platform for Talent Recognition

Mr. Sajjan Kumar, Managing Director of Nikon India Pvt. Ltd., highlighted India's status as a natural sanctuary for wildlife and expressed confidence that the contest, named 'Wonders of the Wild,' would serve as a global platform for budding photographers and videographers. The contest showcases Nikon's commitment to wildlife photography with its range of top-tier lenses and mirrorless cameras designed for professionals in the field.

Acknowledging Art in the Wild

Ms. Kaveri Jain, Director of Marketing and Communications at WWF-India, commended Nikon India's initiative, emphasizing the role of wildlife photography in raising awareness about India's biodiversity. She expressed pride in partnering with the 'Wonders of the Wild' contest, where winners will receive conservation products from the WWF-India Nature Store.

Distinguished Jury Panel

The top entries will undergo evaluation by a prestigious panel, including renowned wildlife videographers and photographers. The panel comprises Mr. Shaaz Jung, a big cat specialist and Director of Photography for the National Geographic feature film "The Real Black Panther," Ms. Latika Nath, 'The Tiger Princess of India,' and Mr. Kallol Mukherjee, an acclaimed Nikon creator and wildlife photographer.

How to Participate

The contest is open to participants of all ages and genders until March 3, 2024. Entries can be submitted through the Nikon India website by filling out a form, providing a link to the photo and/or video, specifying the Nikon camera and lens model used, and including a 100-word caption describing the entry.

Alternatively, participants can use Instagram to submit their entries. The caption must highlight the Nikon camera and lens, include a 100-word description, and use the hashtag #wowseason1 while tagging @NikonIndiaOfficial.

Exciting Prizes

Winners stand a chance to win prizes worth ₹8 lakhs, gaining nationwide recognition within the wildlife community. The grand prize is a Nikon Z 8 mirrorless camera worth ₹3,43,995. The first and second runners-up will receive the NIKKOR Z 400mm f/4.5 VR S lens and NIKKOR Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR lens, respectively. The top 10 entries will also receive WWF-India Nature Store Merchandise.
