Sigma which is considered to be a leading player in the manufacture of high quality cameras has announced the release of the reinvented Sigma DP series of large sensor compact cameras with DP1 Merrill and DP2 Merrill. The devices are named under Dick Merill who is considered to be the creator of the Foveon sensor.
The redesigned cameras with newer generation technology being implemented in it features advanced features as well as specifications. Both the cameras arrive with new set of redesigned lenses.
Another major attraction that arrives with both the cameras includes the presence of Sigma’s Fluorite-like ‘FLD’ glass elements. The redesigned bodies now arrives with high-resolution 920k dot LCDs. With the implementation of updated controls, the camera now looks far better than before.
DP1M comes with a 19mm F2.8 lens that provides 28mm equivalent field of view where as DP2M comes with a 30mm F2.8 lens that is capable of providing 45mm equivalent field of view.

Some of the additional features that are expected to come with Sigma DP Merill cameras include the presence of a dual, three layer responsive ultimate engines that play a major role in increasing the speed as well as improving the overall image quality. The unique image processing algorithm is now capable of providing high resolution power.
The inclusion of RAW as well as JPEG format recording helps in regaining the details regarding the image by means of using a direct image sensor. The RAW data format helps in maintaining the brightness as well as colour data in a range of 1:1 ratio.
Another major feature that comes with Sigma DP Merrill series of cameras includes Sigma Photo Pro processing software that helps in the conversion of RAW data by easier means. Other functionalities of the software include the functions such as loupe, print, JPEG conversion as well as batch white balance settings.
Users can also make use of manual focus whenever required. The presence of custom quick set menu as well as metallic command dial itself shows the advanced user interface that the redesigned cameras come with. The presence of a large, highly visible TFT colour LCD monitor that is of 3 inches display size assures the users with the utmost clarity and visibility.
Users can also make use of the movie mode for recording movies with a specification of VGA (640 x 480) size with a total of 30 shooting frames per second.
