When considering the category of convertible laptops, there are many options for the user to choose from. Many manufacturers like Asus and HP has come up with their own versions of the same. Acer Iconia tab is one another addition to the convertible tablet segment.

This tablet could not achieve the needed media attention and sales figures when compared to other one like Transformer Prime. There are many different reasons for this.

There are several odd things about this tablet and that may be why it couldn’t make the expected response from customers. First of all the Windows 7 version in the tablet is not compatible with touch screen usage and hence the provision of the keyboard. The company launched this tablet with Windows 7 operating system when Windows 8 is just around the corner and it also support touch controls.

Other tablet manufactures are working hard to make their devices work on it and that is when Acer came up with this device. Some reviewers have also stated that the construction of the device is not up to the mark. The other drawbacks that this device has when compared side by side with other top convertible tablets are that, W500 does not fold down into a laptop.

This is because the keyboard comes as an additional accessory and its docking position is fixed. And one other serious flaw is that it does not have a track pad. This will create some serious navigation problems for the user.

These things apart this tablet is a pretty powerful device with its dual core processor. It can also handle media files like a breeze because of the AMD 650 GPU.

Acer Iconia W 500 comes with an expected price tag below Rs. 40, 000/-. This is a very high price tag for a tablet but if you are on the lookout for a powerful device with good media handling capabilities then this is the apt one for you.
