Tablets for kids aren’t a new idea with the market already having kid centric tablets like an OLPC XO 3.0 tablet. The tablet was unveiled at the CES this year. It had many features like an unbreakable screen and some serious configuration too. Now a new android tablet has been brought to light by the Oregon Scientific. It definitely isn’t the first tablet of its kind, but it might be the first tablet that is getting an attention like this one.
The new tablet from Oregon is called the Meep! Yes the same Meep the road runner from the cartoons sounds to make the Coyote drool. The new kiddie slate indeed has a lot in it to make one drool with its mouth watering specifications and cool looks.
The tablet intended for kids, the statement might sound like it’s a toy for safe fun. Well it isn’t that an infant because it doesn’t seem like one with its enriched specifications. It comes loaded with a 7 inch touch screen display which is a Neonode zForce, a topper in the segment. It has an added Wi-Fi and an SD card slot with a G- sensor that enables screen rotation in the tablet. It even runs an Android operating system, the version is however unspecified. Now that’s some clean respects the manufacturers are showing to the kids when they say all these are for the champs of ages 6 and up.
The parents however need not worry about the kid accessing the darker side of internet with its online control panel that lets them keep an eye on what’s happening in there. They can even limit the web access and monitor them with this facility.
More accessories and utilities, according to the manufacturers are on their way and that includes one of the most demanded utility, the music instruments, to ignite the creativity in the little ones. More such utilities and accessorial software updates can be expected and who knows, they might be already on their way too.
Not many information is let out by the manufacturers for now. But with the company planning to unveil the product at the TIA toy fair scheduled to be conducted this week end, it is sure to happen soon. Did they say toy? Yes they did, and it does look more like a toy with its blue and white body colours according to some released images. It is very strange why they call it a Meep, when the road runner here is very easy to be caught once it’s released.
