5 Ways To Put Old RAM Modules To Use
When you upgrade your Laptop or PC, it is always useful to add some more RAM to it. It is helpful in boosting a faster memory and performs with extra memory. It is a very smart option, especially when you upgrade. You might find something of old RAM. You might be confused about what can be done with them, recycled, reused or thrown in the bin. The leftover is useful to gain such boosts.

The RAM modules can be removed so that the new ones can be installed. They are mainly fitted in pairs, in the same speed, memory and from the same manufacturer. The slowest RAM module shows the speed of the system, or else there can be a RAM wastage.

The Old RAM is used to upgrade old computers:
When you remove the RAM from PC or laptop, you can reuse it again in the old machine. But firstly you will have to check the compatibility to the device that is targeted. The anti-static precautions are required to be taken when you replace the RAM.
You will have to know what kind of RAM you are using and check the target machine to see if the modules are accepted. RAM can be of varied types, like DDRAM, SDRAM, DDR RAM, and others. The crucial system scanner and the crucial advisor tool can also be used when you expand or replace the RAM.

Donating it to a Makerspace and Local School:
The old RAM modules are often greatly required by the community centres, churches and schools, and other local institutions as they often require the benefit of the hardware. RAM Modules are volatile and when you remove the power, the data that is stored on them is lost. It is used for purposes like PC building basics and others.

Connecting the old RAM to that of Arduino:
The RAM modules can be used by an Arduino hobbyist so as to use it for extra storage. It is used with a breadboard, wires and solder, and has been adapted properly to provide some extra storage for an Arduino. As it has hardware limitations, it is not a good long term project. Since specialist knowledge is required, it can be teamed up with others.

Building a RAM disk:
You can repurpose the RAM modules by building a RAM disk. The old RAM modules can be plugged into the device like Gigabyte I-RAM which is a very strong storage device. The memory modules should be compatible with the device. It also has a battery to store the data even when the PC is switched off. Physical RAM discs are mainly for the old RAM modules.

Making chip keychains:
You require a rotary tool and some keychains. Since the RAM modules are too long for keychains, you can easily cut them from the middle. You should decide where the holes are when you make the cut and how many keychains you require. You can just smooth the edges after you cut them, and then attach them to the keys. The RAM modules usually have holes in them so that you can easily put the keyrings through them.
