Here are 8 Questions To Ask Yourself Before Buying A Mouse
In our day to day computing over the years, many peripherals have been innovated. One of them is the beloved mouse. Without it, we would not be able to use Windows or even Mac, we wouldn't be able to draw or even browse the web. But these small devices can die quickly with the kind of abuse we give them. The infinite amount of clicks and swift movements can really take its toll.
So how do you select the best mouse? Here are the most important factors to consider when getting your next one.
Game on!
If you're a gaming fan, then you need to ensure that you do invest in a gaming mouse. These special peripherals are made to withstand the harshest click frequencies during Counter Strike, Call of Duty, Battlefield sessions. You need the most durable buttons as well as additional keys added to the mouse for extra shortcuts.
Comfortable use
You may not be used to the trackpad on your laptop and miss the ergonomic design of the mouse missing beneath your palm. Hence, you want one that is designed to fit perfectly in your hands and doesn't hamper your productivity.
Travel simple
So want a combination of design and comfort in your computer peripheral. Keeping a mouse handy while you travel from one place to another is horrifying. And the ones that you use with your PC should not be on your list. To keep things light, many manufacturers have small, yet comfortable ones to use for your laptops. Most of these have retractable USB ports.

It's all in the Dots
This one factor that is key for gamers. Dots per Inch (dpi) indicates the sensitivity of the mouse on a surface. The higher the numbers, the better and swifter response you get while using it. In a gaming mouse, it is possible to adjust the dpi as per the requirement of the player. Ordinary users need not worry about this as most common mice on the market have a decent dpi.
Optically Laser
Even if there are varying types of mice on the market, things get even more interesting when you look at the technology used too. Ordinary users can opt for an optical mouse for their day to day usage. These work perfectly on a flat surface. Laser mice, on the other hand, are perfect for gamers as it has the highest sensitivity and can also be used over a glass surface.
Wired or not
The level of comfort you want to have while using your computer or laptop depends entirely on your decision to keep the mouse connected through a USB cable or if you want it to be wireless. You can avoid the ugliness of cords and wires on your desk by using a wireless model, or you could keep the mouse permanently attached to your PC.

Bluetooth or otherwise
In case you decide to go wireless, a Bluetooth or RF version are available for you to choose from. RF versions have higher response times, but you'll sacrifice a USB port to hold the transmitter. Keeping it plugged in the back of your desktop too is useful. These are more prone to interferences, though, unlike the Bluetooth versions.
Trackpad cool
If you're more inclined to use your laptop's trackpad and wish that the same could also be available for your PC, then you will not be disappointed. Apple's Magic Mouse 2 is a similar one that helps you use swipe gestures on the surface of the mouse itself.
When it comes to deciding the perfect mouse, ordinary users can opt for a wired optical mouse as it can be used on any surface. Gamers should definitely look for optical gaming mice that have great dpi and additional buttons. With a little more investment, they can get laser mouse too.
