Talking about the new Chromebook series, analysts believe that Google's web-centric operating system packaged with hardware is a direct attack on the market dominance of Microsoft and its upcoming release Microsoft Surface.
At the same time Google's Chromebook made by Samsung, looks very identical to the Apple Macbook Airs, hence it will also stand as a competitor against the 13-inch ultra thin laptop with Retina Display speculated to be launched alongside iPad Mini on October 23.
Additionally, Google has claimed that the Chromebook is aimed at students, first-time computer users, and as an extra computer to have around the house
While, Microsoft Surface will land on retails shelves with specs including a 10.6 inch ClearType high definition display with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, Nvidia T30 processor, 2GB RAM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, two 720p cameras, micro SD card slot and USB 2.0 support. The Windows RT version will come in 32 GB and 64 GB versions while the Windows 8 Pro version will come in 64 GB and 128 GB versions.
On the other hand, 13-inch MacBook Pro with a Retina Display is said to pick up the thinner and lighter enclosure of the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display that was released in June. Numerous reports have suggested that the new ultra thin laptop is expected to come with Intel’s Ivy Bridge chip, Thunderbolt connector, LTE support and improved battery with Power Management Technology and much more.
Analysts have predicted in the past that Google Chrome OS based , Samsung laptops have had a tough time since 2011 and will continue their struggle trying to shift both, the concept of Chrome OS and portable devices running it, to make Chromebooks a success. However, now it looks that with the competitive market pricing, Google surely will lure an audience segment looking to purchase budget laptop for daily usage.
