HTC Phablet Release Date: Will the Hybrid Knock-Out Samsung Galaxy Note 2?

Rumors are rife in the tech gossip world that in the coming months, HTC is looking to bring a couple of hefty Android handsets in the global market.

While the company is already speculated to be coming up with an 4G LTE capable quad-core Tegra 3 powered Android smartphone, recent newsbreak has emerged online that the Taiwanese firm will launch HTC-made 5-inch super behemoth screen display smartphone with new model number HTC6435, codenamed “dlx.”

According to Digitimes reports, HTC is planning to release this Samsung Galaxy Note competitor equipped with 1080p sometime in September or October.

The first report regarding the handset was outed by BGR in April, when they disclosed HTC's plan to manufacture a Samsung Galaxy Note competitor on the Verizon Wireless network, which would feature a 5-inch display with 1080p HD resolution -- a non-Pentile variant, while a quad-core Krait processor and an Adreno 320 GPU will power it.

Lately, reports popped up online through a series of new GLBenchmark tests revealing fresh details on the same device again. This benchmark test suggested that the device featured the same codename "dlx" and model number HTC6435.

The handset's processor was informed to be clocked at 1.5GHz, although it didn’t consist of a normal Snapdragon S4 chipset, however was revealed to be equipped with a supercharged MSM8960T chipset, featuring an Adreno 320 GPU.

Moreover, the smartphone's benchmark scores were suggested to be higher than ever seen before, reaching 121.1 frames-per-second on Egypt Offscreen and 110.5 frames-per-second on Egypt Pro; in comparison to HTC's One X, which topped out at 64.8 FPS and 94.8 FPS.

Further the reports indicate that the upcoming smartphone will also have a 5-inch 1080p display with a resolution of 1794 x 1080 pixels and a Scribe pen. Past reports from BGR suggested that the upcoming HTC handset is a part of Verizon's fall 2012 smartphone lineup.

The device is also rumoured to have 126 vertical lines which would be reserved for Android on-screen buttons. This Phablet will run on Android 4.0.4 ICS operating system. But there is also a possibility that the latest Android Jelly Bean operating system could be included in this Phablet when it is launched.

Additionally, tech enthusiasts can also expect usual connectivity features such as USB, Bluetooth, and WLAN enabling high speed data transfer and wireless connection. Better video output is expected to be made possible with HDMI port and the device will have the usual 3.5 mm audio jack. There is no information regarding the camera specifications of this Phablet as well as the battery efficiency.

At the same time, the successor flagship model of Note – the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is rumored to carry a 5.5-inch display with 720p resolution with Samsung’s own quad-core Exynos processor that was found in the newly launched Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet. Further, the handset is expected to be announced at IFA in Germany on August 29.

However, if HTC phablet rumors turn out to be true, then the smartphone maniacs can be assured to witness a serious knock out competition among both the brands releases scheduled for this year.
