IFA 2012: Dell Uncovers XPS Duo 12, XPS 10, XPS One 27 With Windows 8
At the ongoing IFA trade show in Berlin, Dell has unveiled a range of products to foray into the upcoming Windows 8 PC market.
The manufacturer has expanded its XPS product lineup with XPS 10 Windows RT tablet, XPS Duo 12 convertible (powerful Ultrabook plus tablet) and XPS One 27, an all-in-one PC.
Commenting on the launch, Sam Burd, global vice president, PC product group at Dell was quoted saying, ”The new set of products Dell unveiled today represents a milestone in our design and approach to user experience. Our vision for our XPS line of computers is not just about the device or technology, it’s about achieving the perfect balance of amazing design, end user productivity and IT enablement.”
It is to be noted that all the three devices will be available by the end of October, after the official release of Windows 8.
Dell XPS 10:
XPS 10 will be a Windows RT tablet with a 10.1 inch HD display and detachable keyboard, resembling the design of the Microsoft Surface. Interestingly, this tablet is will be backlit for a better user experience.
The Windows tablet will have Microsoft Office, a standard feature of RT based devices, a micro SD card slot and a micro USB port.
Further, the company claims that XPS 10 will have 20 hours battery life, which will beat the major tablets in the market such as the new iPad with 10 hours backup.
XPS Duo 12:
Dell also announced a flip screen laptop – XPS Duo 12, which is an hybrid device (laptop cum tablet). The hybrid is based on Windows 8 OS and it looks like the other Dell XPS devices.
The laptop sports a full HD touchscreen display with edge to edge glass. It has one of the best looking screens as compared to the other Windows 8 based devices.
XPS Duo 12 can be upgraded to Ivy Bridge Core i7 processor, to get a speedy experience of Windows 8. It has a backlit keyboard like the XPS 10. As of now, there is no word on the pricing and complete specifications of the XPS Duo 12.
XPS One 27:
Dell has also unveiled an all-in-one desktop computer dubbed as XPS One 27 with a 27 inch quad HD display. Moreover, the all-in-one PC will come with a reclining stand to let the users to view the device from different angles.
It is designed for creative professionals who need advanced technology including a crisp, super high resolution display and performance graphics for multimedia creation, claims the company.
Further, the AIO will be equipped with premium speakers and Waves MaxxAudio 4 audio technology, that offer deep and rich sound output.
