iPad Mini – What Features To Expect?

According to the latest report, iPad Mini will boast an 8-inch display along with 1024 x 768 resolution setup present on the iPad 2. However, according to a KnowYourMobile report, there might be a chance that Apple adds Retina Display technology to the device, in order to enter the 7-inch slate space with a bang and go head-to-head with the challengers including Google Nexus 7, Amazon Kindle Fires and to some extent Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

Apple.Pro also reported that the device will be a 3G-capable model, meaning you can use data on the go.

At the same time, the leaked images show iPad Minisporting a simpler design. Edges are also made thinner compared to other iPad devices available in the market. Images reveal the presence of a dock connector in the device along with dual speakers that are placed on either sides of the iPad Mini.

There is no information available on other specifications of this device. Analysts suggest that the company will announce the launch of the much awaited next generation iPhone and iPad in separate events soon.

A senior analyst named John Gruber of Daring Fireball was quoted in a report saying, “I don"t think Apple would want reviews of both the new iPhone and new-size iPad appearing at the same time."

Earlier reports from from DigiTimes also suggested that, “supply volume of Apple"s 7.85-inch iPad is estimated to reach four million units per month starting in September in order to prepare for demand from year-end holidays, according to sources from the upstream supply chain."

An earlier report by 9to5Mac listed the rumored features of the smaller iPad based on the leaked images and design schematics. The list goes on stating that the tablet will have slimmer side bezels, separate volume buttons, two front cameras, same form factor as the iPod Touch, 7.2 to 7.3 inch thick and possibility of LTE connectivity. However, these are rumored features and they are not confirmed by Apple.

When it comes to its pricing, analysts assume the iPad Mini to be priced at $299 (approx. Rs 16,000), which will create an impact on the sales of the Amazon Kindle Fire and Google Nexus 7, the two 7 inch Android tablets priced around the range of $199.
