Leading mobile brand in India Karbonn Mobiles together with tech firm MIPS Technologies and China-based CPU provider Ingenic Semiconductor has announced the market release of the world's lowest-cost Android 4.1 'Jelly Bean' tablet -- Karbonn Smart Tab 1. The tablet will hit the retail sheleves at an affordable price tag of Rs. 6,999 and further it will also be available for purchase at the Karbonn’s own site and other online stores and outlets in India.

Karbonn Smart Tab 1 was first introduced by the company in July, but at that time it was running on Android 4.0 'Ice Cream Sandwich' operating system. However, now Karbonn has informed that the OS of the tablet has benn upgraded to Google's newest Android 4.1 'Jelly Bean' and the good news is that those who have purchased the earlier version of Karbonn Smart Tab 1 will also be provided with an update.

What Features to Expect?

Processor with low-power consumption: The highlight feature of Karbonn Smart Tab 1 is it features MIPS-Based(TM) JZ4770 SoC processor from Ingenic which will offer users with ultra-low power consumption. According to the company's press release, the JZ4770 SoC along with 1.2GHz performance will provide a high level of functional integration.

Battery life: The company has claimed that Karbonn Smart Tab 1 will deliver a long battery life as the device is loaded with 3,700 mAh Battery which will support up to 7 hours of web browsing time, 8 hours of video playback time with earphones or 25 hours of music playback time with earphones.

Camera: Well, on the camera front, the device cannot be said as highly stacked as it features a 2MP rear-facing camera and has no VGA camera.

Other Features: As far as other features of the tablet are concerned, it has 3G support through a USB dongle and up to 32GB of expandable storage via the microSD card slot. Further, Karbonn Smart Tab 1 also houses a Capacitive 5 Point Multi Touch Screen, HDMI support and a 3D G-Sensor to enhance the user's gaming experience.

Overall, it can be said that Karbonn Smart Tab 1 is a decent low-budget tablet which can attract a vast majority of consumers in India who are looking for a cost effective purchase.
