Kobo Glo, Mini, Arc: New Range of eReaders Coming this October
While Amazon has splash the tablet market segment with its new range of Kindle Fires, there are other in the queue as well to explore the market and grab some share of it by unveiling new products. One of the manufacturers is Kobo, they have recently announced a new range of ebook readers including Mini and Glo and also a brand new tablet dubbed by the name of Arc. With the launch of 3 new devices, Kobo is expecting to give a tough competition to its rivals sustaining in the market.
First among the ebook readers showcased by Kobo is ‘Glo’, a model featuring a 6 inch e-paper screen that supports a resolution of 1024 x 768.The device also include a Wi-Fi radio, 2 GB of internal storage capacity and a microSD card slot. The device is priced at $129 (approximately Rs. 7,168).
Second addition to the series is Kobo ‘Mini, a comparatively cheaper version which arrives at a price tag of $79 (approximately Rs. 4,390). Kobo Mini features a 5 inch E-ink touch display along with 2 GB of internal storage capacity. Expandable memory is absent in this device. The device is Wi-Fi enabled and has all the social reading features that usually accompany Kobo’s products.
The third in the series is an Android based tablet called Kobo Arc. The device runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform and houses a powerful 1.5 GHz dual core TI OMAP processor. A 7 inch IPS display supporting a resolution of 1280 x 800 makes the device all the more interesting. It features 1 GB RAM along with a 1.3 mega pixel front facing camera. Kobo Arc is available in two variations of storage capacities.
The 8GB version will cost around $199 (approximately Rs 11,058) whereas the 16GB version will cost around $249(approximately Rs 13,836). Kobo Arc is expected to be a huge competitor for the new Kindle Fire tablet which is awaiting its release.
Kobo Arc can work as a centralized hub for all media and has a lot of useful features under its sleeve. It can recommend books based on personal taste and allow users to pin content like books from Kobo library, Youtube videos, images, Wiki pages etc.
