This is a very compact and light weight ultrabook. The small device dimensions lets you carry the device in your back pack or carry bag without much trouble. The outer case has a sandblasted anodized aluminium finish. This lends the device a dark grey colour. The power button has a metal finish and certain intricate details make the device looks appealing. The overall design is bold and very beautiful.
The different connection ports are scattered all around the device and it includes HDMI port and audio ports. The keyboard has a very soft feel to it. But users have reported a bit of a difficulty in using the keyboard. The keys seem to be a bit cramped but once you get used to it typing will be easy. Also the keyboard is not back lit so it will be a problem if you want to use the keyboard in dark lighting conditions. It has pinch zoom capabilities and that comes in very handy when you are doing graphics works.
The reflective finish and the viewing angles make the appearance pleasing. WiDi or wireless display in the ultrabook lets you stream videos including 1080p videos to any HDTV or other monitors. You would need an added adapter for this though. The device comes with various configuration options. You can choose from among the i3, i5 and i7 processors. RAM can be increased to up to 8 GB and the hard disk to up to 1 TB. If you want you can add in a 64 GB SSD too. You do not have any other options for the graphics card and the optical drive.
Lenovo IdeaPad U400 price is around Rs. 40,000/- in India and varies with the configuration.
