The year 2012 can be considered as the year for Android Ice cream sandwich version. Many manufacturers have announced that their tablets will be getting the ICS operating system update. The new tablets yet to be released are already coming with Ice Cream sandwich under their hood.
Lenovo has recently announced that their new ThinkPad tablet will come directly with Android 4.0 Ice cream sandwich operating system. This tablet was earlier rumored to come out with Android 3.2 version. It was expected that the ICS would be offered as a later upgrade.
Mark Hoppins who is the program manager for Lenovo wrote in a discussion in Lenovo’s forum that the company is planning to go for Ice cream sand which version directly rather than introducing the device with an old firmware version. He also said that the product launch is just a few months away.
Lenovo ThinkPad is a smart and efficient tablet that has some pretty impressive spec list. This tablet is mainly intended for business users and therefore the emphasis is given on business centric applications and a powerful processor. The screen resolution is about 1280 x 800 pixels. Even if it is not a media oriented tablet the users can enjoy watching high quality videos in this screen and be sure to not to miss even a single detail in it. It also comes with Corning Gorilla glass cover so that the display is somewhat scratch resistant. The tablet is powered by NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core mobile processor. The device has built in adobe flash player. The current android version powering up the tablet is android 3.1.
If you want you can buy an optional digitizer pen too with the device so that you can edit and manipulate your documents and other files comparatively very easily. One amazing thing is that the tablet is provided with a full sized USB port. This allows the user to plug in regular USB device without the need for an additional adapter.
There is also micro SD card slot as well as a mini-HDMI port available in the device. This tablet is Wi-Fi enabled so that the user can access the net from any Wi-Fi hot spot. There is 2 GB of cloud storage space also available with the device. Sharing media files and other documents is made easy by Lenovo’s filecopy utility.
