Micromax, the homegrown manufacturer is planning to grab a bigger share of the emerging tablet market in India with the release of its two new low-cost tablets - Funbook Alpha and Funbook Infinity. These tablets are slotted to be released officially for retail purchase by the first week of September. Deepak Mehrotra who is the CEO of Micromax was stated as saying, “We will come up with these two tablets in next two to three weeks.”

Features of Micromax Funbook Alpha

Micromax Funbook Alpha will feature a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen display. It will be equipped with a 1 GHz Cortex A8 processor and 4 GB internal memory, which can be expanded to 32 GB. The tablet is powered by a 2800 mAh Li-ion battery and will priced below Rs 6,500 price tag. It will run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS.

Features of Micromax Funbook Infinity

Some features of Micromax Funbook Infinity are similar to those of the Funbook Alpha, but, with slight modifications. Micromax Funbook Infinity will sport a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen display. It will be equipped with a 1 GHz Cortex A8 processor and 4 GB internal memory, which can be expanded to 32 GB. The tablet is powered by a 4000 mAh Li-ion battery and will priced above Rs 6,500 price tag. It will run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS. The tablet has added features, which make it more expensive, but they are not disclosed by the company.
